General:

• What is Made with Love at UCI?

  • Made with Love at UCI is an organization that works to provide UCI students with the opportunity to give back to the community through handmade crafts. Our monthly donations to select charities and organizations allow those in need to feel that they are being thought of and cared for. This hands-on approach to community service was designed to bring our members a sense of fulfillment and the joy of gift giving.
    
    

• What do we do?

  • Monthly Projects

    • We host a variety of crafting events where members can come and make items to donate to the organization of the month. These events are a great way to socialize with others and destress while crafting.
      
      

  • Workshops

    • Made with Love also holds crafting workshops throughout the year for members to learn new crafting techniques. Workshops include teaching crafting basics as well as exploring the newest crafting trends. These workshops were developed to help members explore new crafting mediums and have fun.
      
      

  • Guest Speakers

    • Throughout the year, we invite guest speakers to come and tell us more about their crafts. Speakers may vary from UCI alumni, small business owners, and many more!
      
      

  • Socials

    • Our club strives to provide members with an opportunity to socialize with others that share the same passions. We hold socials throughout the year so members can come, have fun, and make new friends.
      
      

• Who is this club meant for?

  • This club was designed for anyone interested in giving back to their community as well as crafting. We work to create an open and inviting environment for all who are interested.
    
    

• What if I'm not good at crafting?

  • There are no skill level requirements for participating in our events. If a crafting project interests you, join it! We are happy to welcome people of various skill and experience levels.
    
    

Meetings and Events:

• Will meetings and events be on campus?

  • Club activities will be held on campus given that UCI directives permit. All activities are currently scheduled to be held in-person this year, so we hope to see you there!
    
    

• When are meetings?

  • General club meeting will be held from 7-8 PM on Mondays of Weeks 1 and 6. Meetings will be held in Humanities Hall (HH) 262 on campus.
    
    

• Are meetings mandatory?

  • Meetings are not mandatory to attend. However, we highly encourage you to attend in order to keep up with the most current club news and to meet new people.
    
    

• What are the monthly projects and when are they held?

  • Our monthly projects are held to donate handmade items to a select organization. Our project events are held Mondays of Weeks 3 and 8 from 7-8 PM in Humanities Hall (HH) 262. Members can join us in making items to donate for that month. Supplies and instructions will be provided on a limited basis and membership priority.
    
    

• If I can not attend a project meeting can I pick up supplies and return the finished craft?

  • Given the limited number of supplies for each craft project, we will not be able to provide supplies to those who do not show up to the project meeting.
    
    

• Do you have to participate in all of the monthly projects?

  • No. Members can RSVP for monthly projects that interest them. There is no minimum requirement of projects that members must participate in. These projects are held for the members to explore crafts and give back to charities that interest them so participation is completely voluntary.
    
    

• What if I have a specific charity that I want to donate to?

  • If there is a charity or organization that is special to you, please feel free to let us know. We may be able to give back to that cause in future projects. If there is an organization or location that you would like to donate your handmade item to, just let us know and we can help you arrange that.
    
    

Membership:

• What are the benefits of being a member of Made with Love at UCI?

  • Members can find fulfillment in hand-making items that would directly benefit the community and connect with others who share the same passions. Our club is great for exploring crafting hobbies, making new friends, and spreading cheer in the community. Members can also join fun events such as socials and guest speakers.
    
    

• Is there a membership fee?

  • There is no cost to become a general member. However, in order to become eligible for special perks, such as priority supplies for craft events, there is a $25 fee in the Fall or $10 each quarter.
    
    

• What do paid members get?

  • Paid members get guaranteed supplies for any event they RSVP for. Given the limited nature of our events, this will ensure you will always have a spot in our events.
    
    

• How do I join?

  • Simply fill out our membership form.
    
    

• When can I join?

  • Our membership form is open throughout the year, however we recommend signing up as soon as possible in order to participate in current events.
    
    

• What if I’m not good at sewing/knitting/painting/crafting?

  • No worries! Whether you are an expert or newbie at crafting, you are invited to join our crafting events. We provide workshops that members can attend to learn the basics of crafting. We are all here to have a good time and give back to the community so we’re happy to help each other learn.
